Do you enjoy having a great time? Do you like feeling part of a team and the community? Do you enjoy driving boats? Do you enjoy being part of an Organisation that helps to save peoples lives?

You can experience all of this and more by becoming an Active Member of VMR Southport. Active Membership is a great way to meet new people and provide Rescue assistance in the Gold Coast region.

Should you wish to be Active in the VMR Southport organization, contact our Rescue Base on ph:07 5591 1300 and register your interest. You will receive a return call within 7 days in follow up to your enquiry.

Active membership requires those members to participate in at least one of VMR Southport activities which include: Radio Operation, Rescue Boat crew duties, or Administrative Duties.

Training for these activities is generally supplied free of charge, excluding Government or outsourcing charges. Crew Members and Radio Operators are required to obtain a Marine Radio Operators Certificate of Proficiency (MROCP). The course is free but the examination is provided by a Government agency and there is a charge.

Radio Operators man both the VMR Base radios and the radios at the Gold Coast Seaway Tower. Training for this is at no charge.

Training for VMR Southport Rescue boat crews is also provided free of charge. VMR Southport is a Registered Training Organisation and training is recognised under National systems.

Active members of VMR Southport enjoy a satisfying, fulfilling and important contribution to the boating population of the Gold Coast.
